Coding with Bee Bots

Computer coding is an integral part of the Australian Curricilum in Digital Technologies.
Check out the hive of activity in coding using Bee Bots in our classroom! The attached videos show the children learning to program their Bee Bot. Students are currently creating a map with challenging paths, and writing a program for their Bee Bots to move through the maze. Students are supporting each other in this activity by being excellent team workers. Throughout these lessons, they are having lots of fun while learning to code.

Ask your child to share the Code.org website with you. Perhaps you might like to have a go too.
Louisa Guest is also providing learning opportunities for staff and students to practise coding.

We are helping to produce Australia’s coders of the future!

Skipping Stars

Skipping Stars

The photos below display our 4 key beliefs in action. Students show that they feel very much part of a team by practising collaboration. They encourage each other to become more expert learners by saying that they can do it. Opportunities to learn new skills are valued. Faith in each other’s ability to succeed is evident, and they appreciate the importance of best effort to develop their learning.

Skipping is fun and fantastic exercise! As their class teacher, I am extremely proud of the support they have given each other in their P.E. lessons. In particular, the amazing growth in some students’ ability to jump in to and out of a moving skipping rope has been a delight to witness. The children have shown brilliant patience, persistence and tolerance. They have encouraged their peers to be resilient and to keep on practising hard. Much excitement has been evident when success has been achieved. What a wonderful celebration of learning!

Welcome to Term 2 – Developing an Academic Mindset

During our class meeting each morning, we discuss the four key beliefs which help us to develop a positive academic mindset. Our goal is for every student to independently recall these beliefs by the end of term 2. Together we have not only been “talking the talk” but, most importantly, we have also been “walking the walk”. Ask your child to explain this to you!

Our 4 beliefs:

I can change my intelligence and abilities through effort.

I can succeed.

I belong in this learning community.

This work has value and purpose for me.

It has been a pleasure meeting many of you already. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Our school Acquaintance Night will be held on Tuesday evening, 10th February, in our classroom. More details will be sent home soon.

How can you help your child to improve their reading? If you open our July,2014, Archive file you can see how adding 10 minutes a day to a child’s reading makes a big difference over the year! Students in our class are expected to read every night (Monday-Thursday) for homework. Many children already read every day of the week.
